Here at Generational Exchange our mission is to Raise the awareness while simultaneously fighting to Eradicate the spread of Malaria .Malaria is a life threatening disease caused by parasites that is transmitted to people through the bites of infected female Anopheles mosquitoes . Specifically children under 5 are the most vulnerable group affected by the disease. “A very small key, will open a heavy door " as they say . it is far easier to stop something from happening than it is to repair the damage after it happens . Malaria IS a preventable disease. By providing the tools and information necessary to ensure that they are used properly, we CAN and we WILL save lives,
We strive to make a difference in the world one bed net at a time. We are working to foster long-term solutions to problems that need resolving, and malaria is a pandemic that we need to put to an end. Our approach to is to utilize our resources to provide Africa with the necessary tools to effectively defeat malaria while saving as many lives as possible. We have hope in a nation that will one day thrive in health. With the defeat of malaria, stimulation of economic growth and reduction of poverty in Africa are within reach.
In sub-Saharan Africa, more than half of households have less nets than are needed to protect all occupants. The nets themselves are relatively inexpensive, costing about two or three USD each. So the question at hand isn’t, “How do we prevent malaria?” as much as, “How do we channel more resources toward fixing the issue?” In recent decades, we have made incredible strides toward preventing malaria worldwide. Current global funding to fight malaria, however, is currently less than half what it needs to be to eradicate the disease.
In order to help meet this need, Generational Exchange has made providing mosquito nets to vulnerable people around the world one of our initiatives. You can increase our impact by donating to our Water & Wellness campaigns. While there is still a lot of work to be done, we’re holding out hope. We know how to eliminate malaria.
